…..Geoffrey Bridge started off proceedings by introducing and performing 6 Pieces for solo oboe by Britten. These pieces were based on tales from the Roman poet Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and left the audience in no doubt that this player was a complete master of his instrument.

Mozart Oboe Concerto.….but special mention must be made of the oboe concerto, where the soloist Geoffrey Bridge gave a wonderfully fluent rendering of the demanding score - a real pleasure to listen to.  Everyone in the audience appreciated that we were in the presence of a master of the instrument.

…. following this, with a performance equally impeccable, was Geoffrey Bridge and Bach’s concerto for Oboe d’amore. Geoff provided what he always does, a classy demonstration of perfect phrasing, effortless control and astute interpretation.
